Persephone's Tale (Part 1)
It took her unawares.
An awful noise startled Persephone from her slumber. Several cracks ripped through the ground, travelling across the field as the earth split in half. Dirt billowed through the air, and Persephone shaded her eyes to see a shape emerge from the haze.
Clambering to her feet, she blinked as she heard the pounding of hooves. It was a rider that approached. Persephone’s pulse sped, and each heartbeat sent fear racing through her veins. Someone from the Underworld? This cannot be good.
Air hissed from her lips when the stranger grew close. Twenty metres away, a man regarded her from astride a massive stallion. The rid
Author's Note: This is a Thalia's Musings stand-alone episode set centuries before the main story. The Muses still live at Helicon, and Apollo, one of the Nine Olympians, lives at the Royal Court and works in Zeus' pastures.

"How's the new God of Herding these days?" I asked Apollo, having just materialized by his sheepfold. He nearly fell off the stone fence he'd been sitting on.
"Don't do that!" he laughed.
"So?" I asked, climbing over the fence to pet the lambs. "Is the job getting any less awful?"
"It is," he replied. "It's numbed my soul so much that I no longe
Hades and Persephone: "Her Tragic Valentine"
He had wished to be with her for not so long ago He had just seen her. And then, he suddenly felt in love with that fragile dancing creature in front of him. He never showed himself to her.
He went back to the Underworld, with the expectancy of forgetting her, that vision. He should not feel like he was recently doing it. He was the end of all, he was death.
With noticeable melancholy, he realized there was no thing he could do to stop the rhythm of his dead heart's beats when he heard her singing. He had no other choice to give up to the fact that he, Hades, loved that young girl, in that

"Mom, do I have to go to the palace with you?"
The strawberry blonde goddess was still seated on the bank of Lake Mnemosyne, challenging her mother's announcement that it was time to leave. I was sorry to see her go. Persephone was the first goddess of my generation that I'd ever met. Well, aside from my sisters. Persephone was practically the same age as us. My sisters and I were eleven months old, an

The Particular Sadness of Pomegranate Seeds I
She raised her palms to the sky, fingers spread, and sunk her toes into the earth. Heat-filled particles of light warmed her face and the moist cool matter softened her toes. This was life and she relished in its glory.
Nature was her mother and the ruler of the cosmos was her father. She imagined herself as a tree, her feet diving down into the rich folds of the earth, planting their roots, while her fingers extended to the heavens forming into a million branches. Leaves and flowers exploded from her branches as they begged for the gift of light from the sun.
She walked in beauty. From where she stood, a gathering of red poppies reached to

Belle stood in front of Mr. Gold's bedroom door clenching and unclenching her hands. She was afraid of what he might say, but she was even more afraid of going back to the room he had provided for her alone. The door was cracked, and she could hear him moving around, so she knew she wouldn't wake him, but still she hesitated.
"Do the brave thing and bravery will follow." The words echoed in her head like a half-remembered song. How long had it been since she'd thought that?
Swallowing her fear, she tapped on the door. "Rumple?"
"Belle?" his voice returned, tinged

Storybrook, Current Time
By the time Gold reached the large house near the outskirts of Storybrook, the sun had long since set and the stars had begun to appear in delicate little clusters. They shined so beautiful in the darkness, innocent of the deceits of man and the realms. Apart from everything, and yet eternally connected.
Mr. Gold stared up at the bright celestial orbs and remembered a time when he had looked up and observed the constellations with someone he held dear. It seemed like a million years ago; but he still remembered it perfectly.
The man was so wrapped
(Persephone POV)
Darkness… Nothing around me but darkness.
I can’t move!
Why can’t I feel any of my limbs?
I feel cold… as though I’ve been submerged into a frozen lake during the height of the Solstice.
My breath is empty, if -at all- existent.
I’m lost in the darkness and I feel nothing but the pain of a very far off and distant memory.
“Daemon!” I cried, shaking him with no avail. “Come on, Daemon! Wake up!”
Nothing.
The jagged movements from his body are only supplied by the desperation of my fists that I fill with his chainmail suit,

...you're real.
Well, of course I'm real. Why on earth wouldn't I be?
I watch him closely, this man hidden away in the back of a pawn shop. The clutter of this place is claustrophobic. It's amazing that there aren't more broken treasures in here; it's hard to move without brushing a piece of someone else's past.
I watch him. I examine him, the one I was told would...what was it?...protect me? He's older, for sure, but he carries himself with grace and dignity. Smartly dressed in a crisp suit, leaning upon a cane, he limps towards me. Soft umber hair that gently falls around his face, streaks of silver shimmering in the dim light of the sho

Once Upon a Time: Tea Cups and Hearts Chapter Two: Unknown VoicesBelle felt a hand on her back and let it guide her towards the large double doors of her Fathers' Throne Room. Seconds before, she had made the promise of a lifetime. She would be a caretaker from the Beast Rumpelstiltskin for all eternity. She fought to keep her head clear, "It's been decided, Belle. You must do this for your friends and family. . . For all the children, who would have otherwise died in the Ogre Wars. Remember them."
A happy lilt jolted her out of her thoughts.
"Oh by the way," Rumpelstiltskin called over his shoulder, "Congratulations on your little war!"
